Anwar the ‘Main Star’ in Government Media, Continuously Attacked Every Day

KAJANG, 19 Feb: The capability of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in influencing and raising awareness of the people on the embezzlement of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is causing Umno-BN serious concern to a point of needing to attack him every day since the political tsunami in 2008.

The relentless attacks have been committed by government-owned television stations, such as RTM, funded by the public, and even Umno and BN-controlled media, such as TV3, Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, and the New Straits Times.

Anwar said that the attacks, which are typically defamatory, has not only caused his spirit to grow, but has also caused a growing number of people in the country, especially the generation of the reformation era, to become more familiar with him, thus evoking their desire to understand the issues of the people championed by him, together with Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

“My name is Anwar Ibrahim, the star of RTM and TV3. If I watched TV3, I am the current ‘star’. I only regret that they are not paying me.

“Last week in Berita Harian, the Umno-owned newspaper, they said that I was also responsible for the previous May 13 incident. Are they mad or crazy?

“If I were to entertain all this, I think that it’s a waste of time. So, it’s better for me to concentrate on issues concerning Kajang, Selangor and Malaysians,” said Anwar Ibrahim in a talk at Kampung Sungai Kantan on Monday.

Anwar said that he is however a little lucky to be given the opportunity to take a three-day ‘holiday’ when BN-controlled media diverted their attacks against the Deputy President of PAS, Mohamad Sabu, regarding the communist issue.

“They have reviled me for 15 year. Try naming a time they did not revile me. Three days only, because that time they were reviling Mohamad Sabu.

“They said that Mohamad Sabu was a communist. I was relieved, so I called Mohamad Sabu to thank him because they let me have a ‘holiday’ for three days,” he said.

Anwar added that BN should prioritise policy issues to ensure that the interests of the majority of the people and not play racial sentiments and launch defamatory attacks that humiliate their opponents.
