Teresa Kok: “Enough is enough…”

SHAH ALAM, 20 Feb: After being attacked for over two weeks, Teresa Kok called for all distortions of the video clip published by her in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration to be stopped.

The Member of Parliament for Seputeh said that the attacks and threats received proves that there are malicious parties trying to tarnish the credibility of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders.

She said that the responsible parties have clearly distorted statements by PR representatives of the people and leader to be made into a racial issue.

“Just take a look at my video clip, which contained no elements of racism, could be distorted to a point of me receiving such harassment.

“I believe that other PR leaders will also face the same problem as I have in the next few months or years,” she said on her Facebook status yesterday.

The statement was issued following the discovery of a chicken carcass in her office at Jalan Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, in addition to the stairs leading up to her office being splashed by red paint.

Earlier, in a press conference, Teresa, who is also the DAP Vice-Chairperson, said that she is increasingly concerned for her own safety following a series of incidents against her.

“I still have to carry on with my work and attend functions to meet the people.

“I have no bodyguard. But when I attend functions, there will be more people with me,” she said.

In relation to that, Teresa hopes the police would thoroughly investigate this latest case as she felt that her safety was being threatened.

Prior to this, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) held a demonstration in Kuala Lumpur where they smeared chicken blood on a picture of her as well as offered a cash reward to slap her.
