PETALING JAYA, 23 Feb: The State Government will implement house to house health programmes to find out the health status of families in the state.
The Executive Councillor in charge of Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodziah Ismail, said that the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, has ordered to send volunteers to identify the level of health and problems faced by families involved.
She said that at the early stages, 10 areas, according to district, have been identified for the implementation of the project.
Among these areas are; Desa Mentari, Lembah Subang, Rimba Jaya, Hicom People’s Housing Project, Seri Perantau and Bandar Sultan Suleiman.
“We have carried out initial preparation; we will look into the ratio of workers and families. The Chief Minister has asked to ensure the best focus on health.
“For example, those who have finances may not have problems, but those earning a low income will ignore this problem.
“Through this programme, the State Government will quickly obtain information regarding their problems and we will try to help,” she said after inaugurating the Health Seminar in Conjunction with the World Cancer Day 2014.
She said that other than municipalities, this programme will be carried out in low and medium cost housing areas.
Rodziah also informed that the health of the people in the state, including women, is still at a low level.
“For women, the awareness is there, but it may be due to financial factors. Therefore, the State Government is practicing the concept of ‘we will bring it and we will come’.
Meanwhile, Rodziah said that according to statistics from 2013 to the present, about 17,000 women have received mammogram screenings for free.
“For each 100 people, we found one or two who are diagnosed with cancer, but because it is still at a low level and with consistent treatment, they were cured,” she said.
