Khalid Explains CM Issue Needs to be Referred to Palace, Exco

KAJANG, 7 Mar: Any issue that involves the position of the Chief Minister of Selangor can only be determined after first referring to DYMM the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, as the Head of State and the Executive Council.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the matter was set when he recently met DYMM the Sultan of Selangor.

“I cannot sign any letter asking me to resign. I need to refer to His Royal Highness and discuss with the state executive council in advance,” he said after handing out the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor programme contributions today.

Selangor Kini understands that the conditions are needed because the Chief Minister issue involves the interests of the people and impacts the whole State Government.

Abdul Khalid said this when asked to comment on recent media speculation claiming that in the meeting, he informed the Palace that he did not want retreat from the position of Chief Minister.

Strong speculations say that the Kajang Move is an attempt to replace Abdul Khalid and place the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the new Chief Minister.
