Selangor Offers RM1,000 Premium to Renew the Lease of Residential Land

SHAH ALAM, 20 Mar: The Selangor Government has introduced a programme to ease the burden of the lessee to renew the lease of their residential land.

The programme offers a premium of RM1,000 in contrast of it being based on the property value, as previously practiced.

“The State Government is implementing a new programme where owners of residential land who want to renew the lease to 99 years can apply for a premium of only RM1,000.

“For example, in Seri Kembangan, Serdang and Petaling Jaya, the property values are very high, so much so that they have to pay RM40,000.

“They can make an appeal and only pay a premium of only RM1,000,” said Chang Khim in a press conference held here at the SUK Building.

However, he added that the owner of the residential property involved will be charged the full fee if the owner intends to sell the land to a third party.

“If they want to transfer it to their beneficiaries, children or grandchildren, there are also privileges in this programme.

“This is clearly the best policy. There is not a single state under Barisan Nasional (BN) that has a policy like this,” he added.
