Study: PR Assemblymen More Responsive to Public Complaints Compared to BN Assemblymen

SHAH ALAM, 14 Apr: A study conducted by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as Kuasa, has found that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Assemblymen are more responsive towards public complaint compared to Barisan Nasional (BN) Assemblymen.

The results of the study, published on mykuasa.org/ms, also found that 67 percent of Selangor Assemblymen reply to complaints made compared to only 23 percent in Perak.

In the study which was conducted from 22 to 31 March, Assemblymen were contacted via email, Facebook and Twitter, with ‘mystery guests’ posing as constituents with problems affecting them.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kuasa, Praba Ganesan, said that elected representatives should be responsible to respond when contacted by the public via the means of contact provided.

“Kuala Kubu Baru representative Lee Kee Heong (DAP) was contactable through all three communication methods. In two instances, she replied within 15 minutes. She also provided suggestions and solutions to issues raised,” he said, quoted from MStar yesterday.

Apart from Kee Heong, Praba also praised the Assemblyman for Gombak Setia, Hasbullah Ridzwan (PAS); Teratai, Tiew Way Keng (DAP); Kinrara, Ng Sze Han (DAP); Bukit Gasing, Rajiv Rishyakaran (DAP); Kampung Tunku, Lau Weng San (DAP) and Teja, Chang Lih Kang.

Praba added that younger Assemblymen were also found to be responsive when contacted via electronic media compared to Assemblymen aged 50 years and above.
