SHAH ALAM, 10 Apr: All of the income earned by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, from government-linked companies (GLCs) in Selangor has been returned to the State Government.
Abdul Khalid said that this approach has been carried out since he became Chief Minister in 2008 until now.
“Since becoming Chief Minister, I decided that all my income from GLCs will be returned to the State Government.
“I can accept the salary, but I gave it back to the GLCs. Normally, if the company profits a lot, I will receive it (salary).
“However, in Selangor, we do not practice this and it is done as a discipline. If we place people on the Board of Directors, they will certainly choose a good company and profit a lot.
“But what is important, as the Chief Executive, I need to find a company that can be recovered, that is why I did not choose companies that cannot profit and cannot pay out a dividend because it is my duty to recover the company,” he said in reply to a supplementary question from R.Rajiv (DAP-Bukit Gasing).
Abdul Khalid said this in reference to a question from Amiruddin Shari (PKR-Batu Caves) who asked a question regarding the corporate social responsibility (CSR) by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) programme.
He said to date, the CSR allocation amounts to RM45 million and 8 percent from the allocation has been spent on football management.
“Meanwhile, RM5 million went to the Selangor Microcredit Scheme (Skimsel) and RM1 million for the Urban Poor Microcredit (Mimbar) programme. The rest went to the Kampung Baru development project, including the Selangorku grant,” he said.
