She said that the decision to withdraw was made on her own and not on the insistence of others.

“When I looked at the list of candidates for the MPP, I noticed the lack of women candidates.

“So I wanted to participate so that there is a diversity of candidates, and not just men,” she said when she was met at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) lobby.

Elizabeth added that the decision to withdraw was based on the high credibility factor among the list other Vice Presidential candidates.

Among the candidates contesting are, the incumbent, Tian Chua;the Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli; the Sarawak PKR Chief, Baru Bian and the Perak PKR leader, Mustaffa Kamil Ayub.

Yesterday, Tian Chua announced to withdraw from contesting for the Deputy President post in the party election, which will be held at the end of this month.

Commenting on the development, Elizabeth said that she welcomed Tian Chua’s decision, which is characterised as placing the party’s strength first.

“I was told yesterday and I think that this is good for him to defend the position to intensify work.

“I think it is important for us to have a hard, strong and brave team,” she said.
