SHAH ALAM, 14 Apr: The salary cut for the Chief Minister, Executive Councillors, Speaker and Deputy Speaker to be contributed to the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda Fund is seen as the best formula in addressing rising problems in relation to the previous salary increment.
The Assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa, Azmin Ali, said the approach taken by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, shows his wisdom, but the salaries of Assemblymen is not cut.
He said that after listening to the views of various parties, it is a new formula so that a portion of it can be contributed to the MES agenda Fund.
“Previously, the council approved the salary hike and we want the State Government to review it, while an increase in needed for the purpose of improving the performance of Assemblymen.
“It looks like the salaries of Assemblymen are not cut. This is the Chief Minister’s wisdom. I believe that the Chief Minister can explain that this is the best formula to address arising problems and we want to share the people’s burden,” he said.
Azmin hopes with the cut for the MES Fund, it can be contributed to programmes that are on-going and will be carried out as best possible.
A large portion of the salary and allowance of the Chief Minister, Exco members, Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be channelled to the MES agenda Fund.
