Wan Azizah: Umno’s EVil Plan Prevents Anwar from Becoming PKR President

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Apr: The President of PKR, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said that the withdrawal of Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, from contesting for the party presidency is due to the constraints of the Societies Act due to the legal trial he is facing.

She said that the ban is Umno’s evil plan to make sure of ending Anwar’s political career.

She said to uphold Anwar to lead the party has long been done by the top leaders previously.

“This clearly shows us how evil Umno is as they continue to break Anwar’s fighting spirit.

“I want to stress here that this action will only continue to feed the fighting spirit of PKR members to continue the agenda of change in Malaysia,” she said to the press at the PKR Headquarters.

Anwar is still waiting for the decision of the Court of Appeal after the court ruled that he was guilty in the Defamation II case.

Anwar’s withdrawal from contesting for the party presidency witnesses him remaining as the PKR de facto leader.

Commenting on the party election, Wan Azizah hopes that all contesting candidates and supporters preserve the manners of competition and in accordance to the regulations set by the PKR Election Committee 2014.
