“I was told by Datuk Teng that this matter has come to the attention of the Selangor Economic Action Councilor (MTES).

“But I have to receive the details,” she told reporters yesterday.

Wan Azizah said that that she visited the landfill in Hulu Semenyih on Friday, and found that the place is too close to the residents and the water source.

Meanwhile, the former Kajang Assemblyman, Lee Kim Sim, who was also at the visit, explained that the RDF landfill which houses the domestic waste of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has been ordered to shut down by the Selangor Department of Environment (JAS).

As a result of that, domestic waste has been placed in landfills, but they found that the area is unsuitable for use.

“During our visit, we found that the area (Hulu Semenyih site) is not suitable as a domestic waste landfill.

“This case will be brought to MPKj and the State Government to find an environmental friendly solution for the people,” he said.

He added that all key leaders under MPKj, including Assemblymen and Members of Parliament, will be called for a briefing on the waste problem and find a solution on this matter.
