CM Informed the Sultan He Will be CM for Only 2 Terms

KUALA SELANGOR, 3 May: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, has told the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, that he will serve as Chief Minister for only two terms.

Abdul Khalid said that he has informed the Sultan after the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PR) won in the 13th General Election (GE13).

“I went to the Sultan and told him that I will be Chief Minister for two terms only. I promised not to resign, but only until the end of two terms. I went to the Sultan and informed that I was ready to serve for two terms only.

“If over 10 years of service but the job is not done, then the job will not be done. That is why my contribution to the state and country as a Chief Minister will not be over 10 years.

“I informed the Sultan before I was re-elected as Chief Minister, but I kept it as my secret,” said Abdul Khalid after submitting the Completed Darul Ibadah Mosque Project at Kampung Harmoni, Simpang Tiga Ijok, yesterday.

Previously, Abdul Khalid said to the media that he did not intend to serve as Chief Minister more than two terms, as practiced in developed countries.

Abdul Khalid is the first Chief Minister who is not from Umno leaders in the state.

During the six years of Abdul Khalid’s service, he successfully implemented reform in the administration of the State Government in a variety of aspects.

He is also responsible for introducing the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) concept in the state administration, allowing the people of the state enjoy the wealth of the state through various MES programmes.
