Abdul Khalid Confident in Winning the Position of PKR Deputy President

BESTARI JAYA, 5 May: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, is confident on winning the position of the Party Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President in the 2014 party elections compared to his two rivals.

Abdul Khalid said that he might be able to catch up in votes for the position in the Selangor election process on 11 May.

“Certainly, in Selangor, I will be able to get more votes because there are many members; 170,000 people.

“That is why I’m confident in winning. I am confident and that is why I am running,” he said after the Presentation Ceremony of Land Grants to settlers in Kampung Sungai Darah yesterday.

Commenting on the issue of fraud in the voting process, Abdul Khalid said that he will leave it to the Party Election Committee (JPP) for further action.

“We have to overcome this. For now, let the JPP handle it, I do not have to comment.

“Because we have already given the authority and work to the JPP, so let them perform the responsibility,” he said.

In addition, Abdul Khalid is also confident in retaining his seat as the Kuala Selangor Branch Chief.

“The branch general meeting was held this morning (yesterday) and it is in a state of harmony and controlled,” he said.

As of May 2, the incumbent for the position, Azmin Ali, received 5,111 votes, followed by Datuk Saifuddin Nasution (2,322) and Abdul Khalid (2,288).

The first week of the polling ended on 27 April, involving election in six states; Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and Malacca.

The voting process will continue on May 2 in Perlis, Kedah and Sabah, followed by Penang, Perakl and Sabah (May 4).

Meanwhile, for Negeri Sembilan and the Federal Territory, it will take place on May 10, and May 11 for Selangor.
