3 food premises ordered to close, 15 compounds issued by MBSA

SHAH ALAM, 18 MAY: During a recent effort to improve hygiene in food premises, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) launched a Food Premises Hygiene Inspection Operation at 11 different business premises within Dataran Otomobil, Section 15.

Among the scope of inspection are to check on the cleanliness of the environment within a food premise, TY2 injection certificate, additional construction without permission, permit to block pedestrian walkways, chairs and tables permit, food stalls permit and so on, said Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad

He added that notices and compounds were issued to traders in accordance with the Small food establishment law (MBSA) 2007.

“As a result from the operation, three food premises were ordered to close immediately.”

“15 other compounds were issued for failing to maintain cleanliness of the premise, failure to display TY2 injection certificate and food maintenance certificate, additional construction without permission, permit to block pedestrian walkways, chairs and tables permit and food stalls permit, “ he said in a statement.

The operation in collaboration with the Enforcement Department of MBSA was headed by Noorulhidayah Yeop, Assistant Environmental Health Officer of MBSA.

“MBSA hopes that advices, compounds and notices given throughout Food Premises Hygiene Inspection Operation, will be able to assist food premises owners to improve on cleanliness and fix their mistakes.”

“The operation was also conducted as a step to ensure food premises always maintain cleanliness as well as complying to current rules and regulations,” he said.
