KIDEX Highway issue must be addressed immediately

SHAH ALAM, 24 MAY: It is a positive step towards solving the KIDEX issue when Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim told of his intention to recall the concessionaire and the Selangor Government to meet residents of Petaling Jaya to listen to their grievances and objections regarding the construction of the Kinrara-Damansara Highway (KIDEX).

Bukit Gasing State Assemblyman, R Rajiv, said residents agreed with the suggestion to reduce traffic congestion but thinks that KIDEX is not the solution.

The Selangor Government was requested to not make any premature conclusions because there are still no graphic or an idea of what KIDEX is capable of, up till this moment.

“I welcome his (Abdul Khalid) intentions with open hands. I have been writing a lot of letters to the Chief Minister’s office in hopes that this issue can be resolved immediately.

“This KIDEX issue appears daily in the media, hence it is better that he (Abdul Khalid) attends the dialogue,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini, earlier today.

KIDEX is a highly debated issue between Selangor state assemblymen during State Assembly of Selangor proceedings, while residents formed the NGO ‘Say No To Kidex’ as a sign of protest towards the project.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said the State Government will recall the KIDEX Highway concessionaire and other responsible parties to hold a dialogue session, to explain thoroughly about the project to the public especially residents of Petaling Jaya.

He asked for the public, especially the residents rejecting the highway construction to give the State Government and other parties a chance to provide more information and detailed explanations regarding the highway construction.

Through smooth and proper dialogues, the State Government and concessionaire hopes to be able to work around with the ‘adapt and adopt’ method for the benefits of everyone.
