MPSJ’s Healthy Lifestyle Campaign receives encouraging response

SHAH ALAM, 28 May: The Healthy Lifestyle Campaign organised by the State Government, in collaboration with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), received encouraging response from residents around the area towards achieving a healthy lifestyle through sports and leisure activities.

The Executive Councillor for Health, Entrepreneur Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the campaign is in line with the state government’s aim to create a ‘Healthy Selangor’ through two main activities; 10,000-Step Walk and the Cycling for My Heart programme.

She said the activities, which has no cost, requires participants to walk five to six kilometres (km), while participants involved in the cycling programme are required to cycle 30km.

“The 10,000-step walk is a fun and easy activity, without a cost, to be healthy; where they are required to walk six km around the area of the Worldwide Landfill Park.

“For the Cycling for My Heart programme, participants will travel 30km, starting at the Worldwide Landfill Park to Puncak Jalil 4 and 6, Bandar Kinrara 4, 5 and 6, and end back here,” she said when launching the campaign at the Worldwide Landfills Park Recreation Park in Ayer Hitam, Puchong, recently.

He said that the programme is also a platform for the community to engage with MPSJ by realising the MPSJ Strategic Plan 2012-2030, which is the “Formation of a Civil Society” under the strategy to create a healthy and prosperous society.

“This campaign will further strengthen relations among the community by providing them a platform to meet and mingle, as well as carry out healthy activities.

“In addition, this campaign is also able to improve the relationship between local authorities and the community, as well as the public, in addition to enhancing the image of MPSJ as a municipal administrator that is friendly to the people and the environment,” she said.
