Threaten Chief Election Monitor, 3 PKR party members sacked

SHAH ALAM, 12 June: Three members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) have been immediately fired for disciplinary offences involving cases of threat.

The PKR Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, in his media statement, said that the matter was decided by the party’s Political Bureau, chaired by its President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, on June 10.

“The PKR Disciplinary Board reviewed and held an inquiry on a number of disciplinary cases involving its members.

“This case has been presented at the Political Bureau meeting on June 10, chaired by Dr Wan Azizah and attended by bureau members,” he said.

Among those fired is a member of the Hulu Selangor branch, K.Gunasekaran, who was found guilty of leading a group of 10 people to threaten the Chief Election Monitor of the branch on May 11.

Also sacked was Md Nasib Rahim from the Bagan Serai branch on charges making a press statement that openly criticised the party in the Sinar Harian newspaper titled ‘Urge Azmin, Kwee Keong to resign’ on May 19.

Previously, Md Nasib underwent a period of suspension for three years, until 14 April 2016, but defied the letter of suspension by criticising the party in the media.

Another member sacked was Ibrahim Mahidin from the Kuala Selangor branch on charges of being involved in money politics.

Ibrahim was sacked after he failed to attend the hearing of the case against him on May 23.

Meanwhile, Monniza or Sarimah Abdul Ghani from the Kapar branch had her membership suspended for a year when she made a press statement which was reported in the Berita Harian newspaper on May 12.

Meanwhile, S.Manikavasagam and V.Bobinath from the Kuala Selangor branch were given stern warning and their suspension was recalled after they explained their move of making a press statement on May 11.
