He said the effort clearly reflects the state government’s principle that education shall be enjoyed by every citizen disregard of their race, religion or background.

“This is a new program and its aim is to provide these facilities for the convenience of the children of plantation workers.

“We would like to make sure that the children are not left behind from development because children and education is the core and asset for the future. If they excel in education, the country will move forward at a better pace,” he said.

Earlier, he was present at a ceremony to hand over funds to six Tamil national schools (SJKT) within DUN Bukit Melawati. It was held at Inspens University College here and also attended by Kuala Selangor District Officer, Suliman Abdul Rahman.

The boarding school will be built on a 10-acre land in Coalfield and agreed with the developers, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad.

Selangor Works Ministry (JKR) is in charge of the on-going construction works and the project shall be completed by 2017.

Advisor, K. Vasantha said the state government initiatives and assistance for the Indian community is something that was never provided during years of administration under Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Thank you so much to Pakatan Rakyat state government that is honest in serving the people disregard of time frame and does not need to wait for an election.

“If it was BN, there were plenty of allocations before General Election 13(GE13) but after that none of the funds are given, we shall wait for the next election,” he said.

Since 2008, the Pakatan Rakyat state government has provided an allocation of up to RM4million per year to all 97 SJKT throughout Selangor.
