PKR 2014 Election results announced during Ramadan

PETALING JAYA, 23 June: Appeals or objections to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) central election committee can be done to the Appeal Committee after the last election takes place on June 28.

The Central Election Committee (CEC) Chairman, Datuk Johari Abdul, said that they will not receive any election complaints and appeals after the date.

He said that the appeal committee will be chaired by the Member of Parliament for Teluk Kemang, Datuk Kamarul Baharin Abbas.

“If anyone from any branch wants to make an objection or complaint, they will be given room before the appeal committee.

“However, there is no executive power for any action. The committee can only advise the CEC on further action,” he said during a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

For the election on June 28, the election will be conducted in Sabah, Sarawak and the Peninsular, involving five branches in Sabah – Tenom, Persiangan, Keningau, Papar and Semporna.

For Sarawak, the branches are Batang Sadong, Julai, Sarekei, Kapit and Limbang, while areas in the Peninsular involve Sungai Besar, Subang, Kelana Jaya, Sepang and Puchong.

“All ballot boxes will be directly taken to level 1 of the PKR headquarters which will be monitored by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras for 24 hours. Meanwhile, for Sarawak, it will be sent to Kuching and for Sabah, to the Sabah headquarters,” he said.

In relation to that, Johari said that the PKR congress will be held after the Hari Raya Puasa and the election results will be announced during the Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the CEC Objection Panel Chairman, Abdul Malek Hussin, said that 88 percent of the election went well and only 12 percent had problems.
