Subang Jaya DUN CSC contributes RM40,000 to enliven Ramadan programmes

SUBANG JAYA, 27 June: Since 2008, the Subang Jaya State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Community Service Centre (CSC) never missed donating money to mosques and suraus in the area during the Ramadan month.

The Assemblywoman, Hannah Yeoh, said that the donations given are specifically to enliven the Muslim holy month as it is normal to hold feasts in the evening at mosques and suraus for Muslims to break their fast.

She said that the tradition practiced is also in line with the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) concept to celebrate people from all walks of life, regardless of race, religion and political background.

“Even though the Ramadan has not started yet, I took the opportunity to present the donations to facilitate operations of mosques and suraus.

“I am the elected representative for all, regardless of race or religion. Happy Ramadan to all Muslim residents,” she said.

She said this when handing over donation cheques to representatives of mosques and suraus in the Subang Jaya DUN, and the Member of Parliament for Kelana Jaya, Wong Chen, was also present at the ceremony.

This year, six mosques and 18 suraus received contributions, with mosques receiving RM2,000, while suraus received RM1,000, bringing the total to RM40,000.

On June 20, the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, also donated Moreh donations amounting to RM2.38 million to about 400 mosques and over 1,500 suraus across Selangor.

Each mosque received RM1,650, while suraus approved to hold the Friday Prayers received RM1,250, and normal suraus received RM1,000.
