PAS wants Abdul Khalid to remain as CM

SHAH ALAM, 2 July: PAS has strongly denied speculations that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is at consensus of wanting Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to resign from the Chief Minister position.

Citing The Mole, The PAS Vice President, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, instead said that the party wants Abdul Khalid to continue to lead PR in the state with the highest reserves.

He said that so far, there have been no discussions between PR, let alone the decision for Abdul Khalid to be replaced.

“Pas’ stand on this is that we still want Khalid to remain as the Chief Minister of Selangor.

“Everybody makes mistakes and nobody is perfect and there is certainly room for improvement to fix the weaknesses.

“There is no need to replace the Selangor Mentri Besar as we chose Khalid in the last General Election (the 13th GE) and we trust him to serve the state,” he said.

Recently, Abdul Khalid was attacked by PR component friends, including PKR party members, asking him to resign from the position as Chief Minister following his defeat of maintaining the position as the Kuala Selangor Branch Chief in the party elections.

Abdul Khalid, however, insisted that he will not step down because the Chief Minister’s post has nothing to do with party elections, and that he also remains as the Assemblyman for Port Klang.
