Felexia: Since embracing Islam, I am more calm and grateful

SHAH ALAM, 4 July: Model, Felixia Yeap, has officially embraced Islam after she uttered the syahadah (creed/confession of faith) at a mosque at Taman Tun Dr Ismail at 6.30pm, yesterday.

Earlier, Felixia was chosen as a member of the guest panel, organised by the Selangor Government at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on the 5th of the Ramadan month, to utter the syahadah, in conjunction with her birthday.

“At 6.30 pm, I safely uttered by syahadah at a mosque at Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

“Alhamdulillah (thank God), I am now a Muslim despite being given extra trials today,” she said on Facebook.

She was also thankful for the presence of her friends who also witnessed this historic day of hers.

Some portals said that she will use a combination of two names, one of which is ‘Rania’.

Citing her blog, Felexia said that in the recent months she was determined to wear the hijab (veil), even before she was a Muslim in her heart.

“Until now (3 July; it is currently 6am after the Shaur), I have been a Muslim at heart. What’s left is just being officiated as a Muslim of paper and in front of 4 witnesses…I have gone through many trials.

“But Alhamdulillah…I have receive tremendous support, which has touched my heart, and this positive support is what contributed to me acting rightly,” she wrote.

She wrote that she is blessed with a mother who has blessed her decision to embrace Islam.

“My mother said that I have changed for the better. Mom says that I have matured and I have finally grown up.

She said that since she came to know Islam, she has been more accepting, calm and that she is easily thankful for a humble life.

“Throughout the seven months I have worn the veil and known Islam, I have cried a lot.

“Not in sorrow, but in the sense of regret of my previous life and I feel that I want to repent,” she wrote.
