SHAH ALAM, 20 July: It is hoped that leaders of village communities will help the State Government promote the Rural Youth Technical Skills Programme and attract participation from the youth.
The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that since the launch of the programme, it has received little attention despite attractive offers.
Therefore, he said that cooperation from village chiefs and village development communities (JKKK) is needed in helping attract participation.
“We will give a bonus to villages that provide excellent support to this programme.
“This programme is very important because if the young people go astray, how can they guarantee the future of the state.
“Indeed, youth unemployment is a huge loss,” he said in front of over 200 attendees.
He said this at the Iftar feast with village leaders, committee members and the JKKK of Selangor which was held at the official residence of the Chief Minister yesterday.
At the same event, he also received a donation of RM3,000 for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund from the Selangor Village Chief Union (Kesatuan Penghulu Penggawa Selangor).
Last March, the State Government allocated RM2 million for the implementation of the Rural Youth Technical Skills Programme, which was implemented in April this year.
Selected youth will be sent for technical training for a period of six months to a year and all training costs, including living allowance, will be paid by the State Government.
They will then be placed to work at apartments under the supervision of the State Government after they complete their training and will receive a minimum wage of RM1,500, in addition to a certificate of completion according to Australian standards.
