GAZA, 25 July: At least 15 people were killed and many more injured after the Israeli army bombed a school operated by the United Nations (UN) which provides protection to Palestinian refugees in northern Gaza yesterday.
The Director of the Beit Hanoun Hospital, Ayman Hamdan, said that various medical centres around the area are currently receiving injured individuals.
“This genocide requires more than one hospital to deal with it,” he said.
A Reuters photographer on location saw bloodstains in majority of school compounds near bomb explosion areas.
The families who live near schools ran with their children into hospitals that treat victims, a few hundred metres from the scene.
Laila Al-Shinbari, a woman who was at the school when the bombing happened told Reuters that her family members gathered at the school’s courtyard to be evacuated by the Red Cross convoy.
“We were all at the same place when suddenly four bombs fell on our heads. The bodies were sprawled on the ground, there was blood and screams.
“My son is dead and all my family members were injured, including my other children,” she said.
Meanwhile, the death toll increased to over 700 people in the latest Israeli air strike.
The Israeli army destroyed at least 475 homes, damaged 2,644 homes, 46 schools, 56 mosques and seven hospitals since the attacks two weeks ago.
