Malaysia will announce the mourning day for the MH17 crash

SHAH ALAM, 1 Aug: Malaysia will announce that national day of mourning for the Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) MH17 aircraft crash once the bodies of the victims arrive in our homeland.

This was announced yesterday by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

It is specially for the whole nation to mourn the victims who died in the crash, as well as to pay tribute to them.

The MH17 aircraft was on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, carrying 298 people (283 passengers and 15 crew members) when it crashed in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine near Russia, on July 17.

The Boieng 777-200 was believed to have been shot down, but until now, no parties have claimed responsibility for the act.

The government previously agreed to appoint two ministers to manage the bodies of Malaysians.

They are the Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.
