Sultan of Selangor: JAIS should exercise enforcement more prudently

SHAH ALAM, 8 Aug: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, reminded the staff of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to streamline their governance and operations so that it becomes a more strong and robust organisation.

He said that JAIS should continuously improve quality, especially in terms of management and administration, whether at their headquarters or at every branch across Selangor.

The Sultan said that every transaction and operation should be reviewed and improved from time to time to ensure the best performance to meet the needs and demands of the present time.

“I want to see every division in JAIS working well and smoothly.

“I am aware that JAIS has been through various forms of resistance and baseless accusations have been thrown against JAIS and also the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS),” said the Sultan.

The Sultan said this when he attended a gathering with the officers and staff of JAIS at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

Also present was the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim; the State Government Secretary (SUK), Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi and the Executive Councillor for Islamic Affairs, Sallehen Mukhyi.

Sultan Sharafuddin said that JAIS members should also play a role in maintaining the credibility of Islamic institutions as the current generation is often exposed to various news and false information that can manipulate the people’s beliefs.

He said that JAIS should also always ensure that enforcement on issues related to Islam in Selangor is done wall and in good faith, in accordance with the Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

“Therefore, all enforcement should be done carefully, prudently, fairly and in accordance with procedures and the law,” said the Sultan.
