Abdul Khalid is a leader who prioritises integrity & public interest

KLANG, 26 Aug: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is a leader who prioritises integrity and is meticulous in taking care of the public interest entrusted to him.

This was acknowledged by the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) Investment Department Deputy Manager of Funds, Mohamed Rafii Abd Razak, 49, who served and reported directly to the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PNB.

“The way he (Abdul Khalid) administers; he really studies the issue. As the Bumiputera investment body, he is really careful in investing.

“He studies, does not only hear one opinion, or arbitrarily invests as he is careful so that the funds of the Bumiputera are taken care of,” said Mohamed Rafii when met by Selangor Kini.

Mohamed Rafii said that Abdul Khalid is thorough in investment and in making in-depth analysis before making a decision.

“When he thinks that it is not profitable for the Malays and if he sees that the investment element is not on the actual price, he will research properly and call to revise the work papers.

Mohamed Rafii who was waiting for his wife, a teacher at Chung Hua Secondary School in Kelantan, was met by Selangor Kini by chance outside the Chung Hua Secondary School in Klang where the Selangor State Private Secondary School Financial Assistance Presentation Ceremony was held.

He explained that if checks found that officers deliberately increased the cost of investment or tries to set the share prices above the true value, action will be taken against the officer involved.

When touching on the timely issue of the Chief Minister issue, Mohamed Rafii believes that the stinginess and ‘stubbornness’ of Abdul Khalid in defending the principles of integrity by caring for the trust given to him caused him to be unpopular among his colleagues in politics.

“This is not about being stingy, but trust. For us who have worked with Tan Sri Khalid know the truth. His attitude in vigorously standing up for integrity is not surprising because we know who Abdul Khalid is. Even when he was in PNB, he was pretty steadfast in defending this principle.

“The difference I can see him as Chief Minister is that he was under pressure to ensure that trust is maintained. Perhaps his political friends wanted something from him because he, as the Chief Minister, until now has not received support from his colleagues from his own party,” he said.

He said that Abdul Khalid is carrying out his responsibilities by prioritising trust, causing him to not be able to follow the desires of his political friends.

“But when he was in PNB, when Abdul Khalid exercised his responsibility with trust, he received support from the staff of PNB,” said Mohamed Rafii who is now working as a Stock Broker at a local firm.
