Abdul Khalid to continue duties as the Assemblyman for Klang

SHAH ALAM, 26 Aug: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today announced his intention to continue serving as the Assemblyman for Port Klang until the new decision in relation to the Chief Minister position is decided by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

He said that no decision has been made yet on the matter, but indicated that he will carry out his duties as usual as directed by the Sultan.

“I will not make any decision until a new decision is made by HRH, but in this situation, I plan to continue to serve as the Assemblyman for Port Klang,” he said in a press statement at the Selangor State Secretariat (SUK) Building this evening.

Until a new decision is made, Abdul Khalid said that he will continue the state administration with four members of the State Executive Council until the next meeting with the Palace is held.

He said that once a new person is appointed, then the present leadership will make way for the new Chief Minister.

When asked by reporters about his decision to resign as Chief Minister, Abdul Khalid calmly said that it will be done as his services are no longer needed in Selangor.

“They do not want me anymore,” he said briefly.
