CM: Palace to announce new CM, everyone asked to be patient

SHAH ALAM, 3 Sept: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, urged all parties to be patient while waiting for feedback from the Palace regarding the candidate for the new Chief Minister.

Abdul Khalid said that he was informed that the three Pakatan Rakyat (PR) parties, PKR, PAS and DAP, have sent the names of the candidates to HRH the Sultan of Selangor.

For that, he said, all parties are expected to allow further process to be carried out according the procedures of the State Constitution and the procedures of the state of Selangor.

“I believe that the next process will follow and the Palace will respond to the recommendations given.

“Until the process is completed, the State Government administration will carry on as usual under the existing State Executive Council (MMKN),” he said during a press conference after the Exco meeting today.

Answering additional questions, Abdul Khalid explained that he will not be involved in any discussions regarding his successor and will leave it to the wisdom of the Sultan of Selangor.

“I have been asked to not be involved because there is interest in this matter, so it would be better for me to just be told.

“It is up to the discretion of the Sultan,” he said, referring to whether the state assembly will be dissolved.

On August 25, the Sultan of Selangor ordered each party; PKR, PAS and DAP, to send at least two names to be submitted as candidates for the Chief Minister position.

However, PKR and DAP insisted that they will send the name of only one candidate, the President of PKR, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Meanwhile, PAS sent three names, all from PKR, to respect the orders of the Sultan of Selangor.
