Federal Court rejects Felda suit of RM200 million

SHAH ALAM, 4 Sept: The Federal Court today set aside the RM200 million suit which was filed by Felda against the Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwiong.

The decision thus upheld the previous decision by the Court of Appeal and the High Court.

“The Federal Court this morning made judgement on Felda’s RM200 million suit against me. The judgement upheld the decision by the Court of Appeal and the High Court that I was innocent.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who supported me in this trial process from the start to the end,” he said in a press statement.

On August 16, 2011, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed the defamation suit filed by Felda against Dr Tan, and ordered Felda to pay a cost of RM70,000 to him.

On Jaulary 25, 2011, Felda and its subsidiary company, Felda Global Venture Holdings Sdn Bhd, filed the suit on the article in Suara Keadilan titled ‘Kontroversi’ (Controversy) and ‘Bina Bangunan RM662 Juta Hanya Libatkan Tiga Individu’ (Building RM662 million building only involves three individuals), which allegedly defamed Felda.
