SHAH ALAM, 12 Sept: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) urged for an independent commission to be formed to investigate the incident of the leaked Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) questions.
The President of Persatuan Gerakan Kebangkitan Pendidik Kabangsaan (Pendidik), Normala Sudirman, said that it is necessary to prevent the same incident from happening for other examinations.
“Where is the honesty and integrity of ‘insiders’ who were mandated to formulate the questions and draft policies if the incident involving the UPSR could happen,” she said.
She said this during a press statement today commenting on the leak of the UPSR questions for the Science and English Language 1 & 2 subjects for 2014.
The UPSR which began on September 9 was supposed to have ended on September 11, 2014.
Describing it as tarnishing the image of the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Malaysian Examination Board (LPM), Normala said that this has caused the motivation of students to decrease because they have to re-sit the exam.
She said that the school holidays planning by parents and teachers on duty have also been affected because new questions have to be formulated and reprinted.
She said that the ministry needs to investigate in detail and take the parties responsible for leaking the questions to justice and punish them accordingly.
“It is a lesson to all to carry out duties entrusted to them in the field of education” she said.
