Former CM: Resolve CM issue immediately, avoid Palace from being dragged into crisis

SHAH ALAM, 18 Sept: The former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Muhammad Taib reminded everyone to not drag the Palace into political crises.

Now a PAS member, he said that all parties, especially Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties, need to remain calm and abide by the decree from the Palace.

He said that this includes the Palace’s decree to receive a list of more than two candidates to fill the seat of the Chief Minister of Selangor.

“We cannot drag the Sultan in because the current problem is a problem which was started by a political party.

“If we submit only one candidate’s name, there is a problem. If it is not accepted, submit a new name.

“Then, whoever is appointed, it depends,” he said at a Sinar Harian discourse titled ‘Hot Selangor CM Seat’ which was held here at the Karangkraf Auditorium yesterday evening.

Also a member of the panel is former law lecturer Dr Aziz Bari and the Selangor State Assembly Deputy Speaker, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and it was moderated by Dr Maszlee Malik.

Elaborating, Muhammad hopes that the crisis for the Chief Minister’s seat will be resolved immediately for the smooth running of the state government administration.

“We do not want it to be prolonged, we do not want the people to see a ‘chest full of sores’ (Malay idiom meaning ‘one’s dark secret’).

“Nominate a candidate who actually has credibility and I won’t see the Palace rejecting it,” he said.
