People’s income of RM5,900 is only a ‘propaganda figure’ – Hadi

BATU PAHAT, 18 Sept: PAS urged Putrajaya to cancel the implementation of the GST because the ecosystem of Malaysia’s economy is still not ready.

Its President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, said that PAS instead supports the goal to build a welfare state which gives prosperity to the people.

“PAS wants the income tax system to be reviewed because there is injustice in terms of the tax charged on the middle income group compared to the very rich.

“This includes stopping the granting of APs to cronies because it would certainly generate revenue for the country compared to the GST which burdens the people,” said the PAS President in his keynote address.

He said that PAS is trying to combat the existence of the gap between the rich and poor which is widening and amasses a handful of the super-rich people due to the practice of manipulating the market.

He said that the large poverty gap causes a lack in healthy competition, in addition to the existence of cronyism and nepotism.

Apart from that, the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak about the 6.4 percent GDP growth in the second quarter of 2014 and the declaration that the supposed average income of Malaysians hit RM5,900 a month is only a ‘propaganda figure’.
