MPSJ & the Immigration Department carried out the Foreigner Enforcement Ops

SUBANG JAYA, 21 Sept: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) carried out the Foreigner Enforcement Ops with the Selangor Department of Immigration recently.

MPSJ Enforcement Director, Maj. (Rtd) Mohd Rasip Rasul, said that this is a result of continuous monitoring by MPAJ and public complaints on the influx of foreigners and their activities which have caused discomfort to the locals.

He said that MPSJ often received complaints related to groups of foreigners who gather at playgrounds causing parents to be concerned about letting their children play in these areas.

“The issue of foreigners engaged in the activity of collecting recyclable materials using tricycles was also brought to attention when various problems arose like the cleanliness of the environment and traffic congestion when these groups of foreigners pass through main roads around Puchong,” he said.

He said that in the operation which was carried out, 104 foreigners consisting of Burmese, Cambodians, Bangladeshis, Indians and Indonesians were inspected.

Meanwhile, a total of 45 people were arrested under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for the offense of not having valid travel documents.

MPSJ also confiscated five tricycles used by these groups of foreigners to collect recyclable items.

Action was taken under UUK21(1) UUK Collection, Removal and Disposal of Waste MPSJ 2007.

A total of 56 officers and MPSJ enforcement members, nine officers and members of the Immigration Department were involved in the operation.
