SHAH ALAM, 22 Sept: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the current Selangor saving reserves is now over RM3.3 billion with an investment value of over RM60 billion since he became Chief Minister in 2008.
He said that this was the result of a transparent government, capability, accountability and integrity.
Abdul Khalid said that the results have provided many employment opportunities for the youth and the unemployed with the infrastructure in the city and rural areas being improved or upgraded.
“The supply of clean water is always maintained and provided free up to 20 cubic meters per month, hundreds of millions of ringgit have been channelled for the development of education at Unisel and Kuis, people’s religious schools, Fardu Ain and al-Quran classes, and Tahfiz institutions.
“Not to mention the RM10 million which is channelled every year to Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools,” said Abdul Khalid.
He said this in his farewell speech as the Chief Minister.
Abdul Khalid said that nearly four million people have enjoyed various welfare assistance channelled through the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) policy and that the value of which has reached over RM1.65 billion.
“Over 20 programmes, schemes and initiatives specially meant for the welfare of the people who earn below RM2,500 a month and middle to high income below RM5,000 per month have been implemented through the MES policy which was launched in June 2008,” he said.
He said that after the first term leading the State Government, he was very satisfied with the attitude of “work with me” in terms of joining together in terms of effort and energy towards the success of the MES policy.
“The majority of the people showed their satisfaction with the Pakatan Rakyat State Government.
“The evidence is about 1.3 million out of 1.7 million voters brought victory to Pakatan Rakyat representatives which then maintained the State Government in Selangor after the 13th General Election,” he said.
