Budget 2015: Hannah expects higher provisions for Assemblymen

SHAH ALAM, 9 Oct: The Selangor State Assembly (DNS) Speaker, Hannah Yeoh, expects for the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to focus on budget provisions for State Assembly during the DNS session.

“As usual in the Budget, Assemblymen will ask for provisions to develop their constituency.

“What is interesting is that before Azmin became the Chief Minister, he was the head of the backbenchers, so I am sure that he will help the Assemblymen,” she told Selangor Kini.

She said this in response to the expectation that Azmin will allocate as much as RM2.3 billion for the 2015 Budget, thus making it higher compared to 2014, which was RM1.8 billion.

Hannah informed that the State Assembly will take place for two weeks, starting from November 24.

She is confident that the Assembly session will take place smoothly with the presence of the new Chief Minister.

“This is not the first time the Chief Minister and the Exco at in the Assembly; most have been there for over six years. I know that they are familiar with the state constitution and standing orders. So, it will go smoothly and there are no surprises,” she said.
