Azmin: Budget 2015 is like a crony capitalist economy and not economic capital

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 Oct: The Federal Government’s Budget 2015 which was announced yesterday was of the nature of crony capitalist economy and not economic capital as announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, when he tabled it yesterday.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that this was because the budget does not focus on the people’s economy but continues to provide huge subsidies to their cronies’ companies.

“I see that this budget does not focus on the people’s economy, as announced by the Prime Minister, because the people’s economy needs quality education, training and innovation.

“If we look at the provisions for the Malaysian Department of Innovation, it is only RM50 million when the subsidy for big companies total up to billions.

“So, where is the government’s focus in seeing that the people’s economy continues to be fertile and for me, this is not a capital economy but a crony capitalist economy,” said Mohamed Azmin when met right after the Budget 2015 was presented at the House of Representatives yesterday.

Meanwhile, Najib, in his budget did not touch on the issue of combating corruption leakages and wastage in their administration.

This is in contrast with the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Alternative Budget which was presented a day prior to this which takes into account these issues.
