Use MyKad to but fuel, government fails to solve national debt

SHAH ALAM, 22 Oct: The proposal to use the MyKad to fill up on fuel next year is seen as not solving problems, especially the target group.

The Central PAS Information Chief, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said that although the government is trying to control the purchase of fuel through the use of the MyKad, it can still be misused.

“The government said that they want to control subsidies with the use of the MyKad for the target group with salaries below RM4,000 who will enjoy the subsidy.

“Can the government guarantee that they can control those with high income who take their friends who are qualified to receive the subsidy to buy fuel?

“It is certainly difficult because the workers at petrol stations cannot control a single customer but they have to face many customers at any given time,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.

H also added that the proposal proves that the government has a disorderly mind in finding income for the country to settle the debt.

“The government is only thinking that retracting subsidies will reduce national expenditure, including paying the debt.

“The government now is really in a mess in settling the debt which is growing. This happens when the proposals are put up but its execution fails like the use of the MyKad,” he continued.

The Member of Parliament for Pokok Sena said that the subsidy is a right that every citizen of this country should enjoy, in addition to controlling the increase of price for necessary goods and public transport.

“What the government should do is to reduce their spending, which is a loss like the launching of a project or programme that does not bring about benefits.

“We are previously informed that the government has spent lavishly in various programmes. The government should avoid this instead of taking from the people,” he added.
