“The District Office and MPK need to submit a report as early as tomorrow morning to be presented during the Exco meeting and we will do through the necessities that we should give to the victims.

“Our decision is that reparation work needs to be done immediately,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin said this when visiting the PKNS Apartment in Pandamaran Jaya this evening.

He also visited Pangsapuri Permai Indah, Kampung Pandamaran and Jeti Sungai Aur which were badly affected in the 2pm incident yesterday.

Also present was the Exco for Housing, Buliding Management and Urban Living, Iskandar Abd Samad, the Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s Affairs and Family, Dr Daroyah Alwi and the Assemblyman for Pandamaran, Tan Pok Shyong.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in their statement today, said that the tornado was caused by atmospheric instability.

The incident which took place for 30 minutes witnessed a tornado forming right after the rain before taking with it the roofs of some houses in the area.

The incident also caused the Jalan Banting and Jalan Besar Pandamaran roads to be badly damaged with cases of fallen trees and some houses were reported to be damaged.

Commenting further, Mohamed Azmin said that the roofs of five PKNS apartments that were damaged will be fully completed by Friday.

“The proactive measures by PKNS since yesterday evening were to repair the roofs which were blown away by strong winds and the reparation work will be completed this Friday.

“But there are some problems for Pangsapuri Permai Indah because the Resident’s Committee do not have the financial capability to repair the roof because the cost is high.

“So, the state government will bear the cost and it will be decided in the Exco meeting tomorrow,” he said.
