CM: Local authorities solve road & waste issue by 31 December

PETALING JAYA, 31 Oct: The local authorities have been given until December 31 to solve the waste collection issue in their administrative areas.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government has agreed to give special provisions to local authorities that have previously said that there are not enough provisions to pay for the cost of the work.

“I will make this a focus for three months, including the waste issue, whether domestic waste, solid waste or bulk waste which is a big issue for Selangor local authorties.

“The excuse given is that local authorities do not have enough provisions. Again, I have taken the stand to provide special provisions to all local authorities, except two, to solve this problem before December 31.

“I want domestic waste to be collected according to schedule, whether every two days or one day, and bulk waste needs to be cleaned because I want a clean Selangor that can be emulated by other states,” said Mohamed Azmin in front of about 200 Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) staff.

Mohamed Azmin said this during his speech at the Fieldwork programme at the Petaling district at the MBPJ Auditorium today.

He explained that apart from the waste issue, the issue of road maintenance and flood should also be resolved during the same period.

When touching of provisions to overcome the waste issue, two local authorities, MBPJ and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will not be given provisions because they both have solid financial reserves.

He also urged local authorities to ensure that only capable and quality contractors to repair the roads are selected.

This move should be taken to ensure that the repaired roads are able to last long compared to previously.

Mohamed Azmin also guaranteed that he will channel all financial provisions from the Federal Government to repair roads across Selangor.
