CM: Marris provisions of RM500 million throughout Selangor beginning 2015

SHAH ALAM, 4 Nov: The state government will distribute all of the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) Trust Fund of over RM500 million to Selangor for development programmes beginning next year.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the provisions received should be fully utilised for maintaining roads and drains, as indicated.

He said that all of the provisions will be channeled to all local authorities in Selangor.

“I know that there are some states that use the Marris funds to pay the salaries of civil servants. There are states that use it in part and not entirely.

“Just from a moral principle, I take the stance that the Marris funds must be sent out to all local authorities for the purpose of maintaining roads and drains.We will do it starting next year,” he told the media today.

Azmin said this during the Selangorku Free of Dengue 2014 Action Plan Launch Ceremony and the Mega Gotong-Royong Programme: “Terjah and Destroy Aedes Selangor 2014′ Launch.

He said that every year, the state government receives Marris provisions of about RM500 million from the Federal Government.

The state government will announce the receipt of the Marris provisions from the Federal Government through local authorities, estimated at RM564.64 million this year.
