Abdul Khalid ready to let go of the FAS Presidency

SHAH ALAM, 13 Nov: The Football Association of Selangor (FAS) will be getting a new President when Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim agreed to let go of the position which he has held since 2008.

It is understood that an agreement has been reached on the matter between FAS and Abdul Khalid, who was supposed to serve as the President of FAS until 2018, reported HM Online.

Abdul Khalid, through Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) is the largest contributor of the Red Yellow funds with provisions reading RM8 million per season, and since becoming President, Abdul Khalid always provided the best support to FAS.

However, after losing his position as the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin is seen as the best candidate to lead FAS.

In fact, according to sources, Mohamed Azmin has already agreed to spearhead FAS to replace Abdul Khalid.

FAS is expected to hold the executive committee meeting on Monday to reach an agreement to hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to appoint Mohamed Azmin as the new FAS President.
