21,298 members of TAWAS receive schooling voucher of RM50

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Nov: The state government has approved the qualification period for the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS) from one year old to three years of age for children who are eligible to register.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that parents who have yet to register their children are encouraged to do so as soon as possible, based on the conditions set.

“Now, the extension has been loosened and so far 152836 TAWAS applications have been approved,” he said when officiating the Entering School Assistance Programme for TAWAS Children at the Econsave supermarket in KL Festival City today.

Commenting on the latest assistance programme, Azmin said that it involves 900 TAWAS members from three constituencies which are Bukit Antarabangsa, Lembah Jaya, Teratai, Hulu Kelang and Chempaka.

He said that it will be done gradually in each constituency as an added benefit given to TAWAS members born in 2008.

“The Selangor government, for this programme, approved an additional allocation of over RM1 million for this group of children who will enter the school session in the beginning of the year, where they will receive vouchers worth RM50 for schooling assistance.

“A total of 21,298 TAWAS members born in 2008 will receive this assistance in staged through several supermarkets in every constituency,” he said.

TAWAS is a special assistance for children born in Selangor with a contribution of RM1,500 which can be claimed when they reach 18 years of age.
