SHAH ALAM, 28 Nov: RM367.9 million provision for various existing and new programmes will be developed to face the goods and services tax (GST) for the economic welfare of the people.
The Exco for Investment, Industry (SMI) and Trade and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that the translation of the expenses is specified in various programmes, including education, socio-economy and entrepreneurship, through the Selangor Budget 2014.
He said that the state government is ready to continue some programmes that have had an impact of the people, in addition to having new programmes.
“Among them is the Selangorku Scholarship Fund of RM10 million a year, the Selangor Children’s Self-Sufficiency Assistance amounting to RM12 million, the Sagong Tasi scholarship for indigenous people, RM3 million for the transport industry for free public transport service and RM10 million for investment and business,” he said.
He said this in reply to a verbal question from Haniza Mohamed Talha (PKR-Taman Medan) during the Selangor State Assembly session today.
In addition, he said that the state government will also practice savings in operation expenditure, especially in relation to activities related to services and supply.
“The state government is also continuing its acquisition policy that emphasises on ‘value for money’ which impacts the savings effort without affecting the quality of development carried out,” he added.
