Selcat to meet on RM2.8 million case after the DNS session

SHAH ALAM, 3 Dec: The Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) will meet to review the audit report regarding the issue of gratuity payment by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to eight assistants to the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

The SELCAT Chairman, Hannah Yeoh, said that the meeting will be conducted after the Selangor State Assembly session ends.

“Selcat will meet after this and we will review the audit report (by the State Treasury),” she said during a media conference after the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session was adjourned today.

Hannah informed that the State Treasury report was tabled at the State Government Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) during the DNS session today.

According to her, SELCAT will examine the report prior to directing further investigation.

“MMKN has made an inquiry and agreed to discuss it, and now it is a public document,” she said.

Eight of the officers reportedly received work compensation valued at RM2.8 million. The payment was deemed by the Shah Alam Member of Parliament, Khalid Samad, as unreasonable.

The payment was allegedly made at the end of Abdul Khalid’s period of service before Mohamed Azmin Ali took over as the Chief Minister, effective September 23.
