SHAH ALAM, 5 Dec: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is always practicing prudent spending and prioritising municipal and development services.
Its Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the principle is in line with the state government’s desire to focus on both these aspects.
He said that MBSA is also committed to work and provide comfort and prosperity to the people, especially those living under their administration.
“We always practice smart spending with a focus on services like domestic waste collection, public cleaning, maintenance of infrastructure like street lighting, health and so on.
“MBSA is also focusing on the aspect of construction such as the construction of the market in Taman Seri Muda, upgrading stalls in Section U10, 15 and 19, in addition to upgrading the bus terminal in Section 17,” he told Selangor Kini.
Prior to this the Exco for Local Government, Legalising Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah, announced that the state government will review and look at the budget of all local authorities in Selangor.
He said that the study is to enable adjustments to be made to suit the specifications and needs of every agency by ensuring that public interest projects take precedence through the provisions provided.
“It must be suited to the needs and functions of local authorities to provide the best services to the people,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly session.
The total financial reserves for all local authorities in Selangor after into account current liabilities based on the Financial Statement 2013 and audits amount to RM627.53 million.
The report also recorded total ownership and bank deposits of RM209.59 million, fixed deposits (RM1,511.71 million) and current liabilities (RM1,093.77 million).
