He said that the defeat at the semi-finals at home was certainly disappointing for all Malaysians, but faith in the Malayan Tigers for 90 minutes in Hanoi will never fade.

“However, the tranquil atmosphere was contaminated by some rather embarrassing incidents by Malaysian football supporters and Malaysia’s own name,” he said in a statement.

He said that the fight that took place at the stadium among supporters should not have happened and should never happen, especially when playing host to foreign countries.

He added that whatever the reason given that parked the fight, throwing bottles and causing injury cannot be accepted at all.

Nik Nazmi said that obviously the incident gave negative views and negative assumption to the Vietnamese supporters and all football fans from abroad.

“Just because a small number of Malaysian supporters acted violently and behaved like that, all Malaysian supporters were dragged together,” he said.0

The second round match will take place on Thursday at the My Dinh Nasional Stadium in Hanoi at 9pm, Malaysian time.
