Opposition loses direction, fatigued & mute

SHAH ALAM, 8 Dec: The opposition has lost their direction after being shrouded for a long time by the ‘fear syndrome’ which continues to make them fatigued, mute and have no issues.

The State Public Accounts Committee (PAC) committee member, Ng Suee Lim, said that the move by the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) Opposition Leader, Datuk Shamsudin Lias, to resign does not make sense and he should answer to the voters when he does not conform to the democratic system.

“They have been the opposition for two terms, but they have not accepted the fact that they have to play a major role as an effective opposition.

“Umno has lost its direction, as raised by the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, previously to the Selangor Umno” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

The Selangor Assembly decided for the Sungai Burong Assemblyman to be appointed to lead the PAC together with another BN representative and five other members comprising of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Assemblymen.

Also with Shamsudin in the committee is the Sekinchan Assemblyman (DAP), Ng Suee Lim; the Kajang Assemblyman (PKR), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; the Batu Tiga Assemblyman (PKR), Rodziah Ismail; the Balakong Assemblyman (DAP), Ng Tien Chee; the Meru Assemblyman (PAS), Dr Abd Rani Othman; and the Jeram Assemblyman (BN), Datuk Amiruddin Setro.

However, today Shamsudin decided to give up his role as the Opposition Leader after he rejected the appointment as the Chairman of the Selangor Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

He also returned the Toyota Camry given by the state government.

Suee Lim said that Shamsudin acted this way due to encouragement and direction from the highest members of his party.

He said that Shamsudin showed high tendency to take up the role of the Opposition Leader and promised to provide good cooperation to the Selangor government in seeing that the state democratic system carried out well.

“I am sure that Shamsudin is open to serving as the Opposition Leader, however he acted this way after receiving instructions from his superiors to reject it,” he said.
