Exco: ‘Give fishing rods to entrepreneurs not fish’

SHAH ALAM, 17 Dec: The state government is always encouraging efforts to cultivate entrepreneurs in Selangor as a catalyst to improve the lives of the people.

The Exco for Young Generation and Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development, Amirudin Shari, however said that the effort should not be translated to a one-off or cash alone.

Instead, he said that the platform and space should be provided for the long term to ensure the continuity of the people’s life better.

“We do not only want to give them fish because it only lets them eat once.

“But they want give them a hook or rod so that they can have prolonged opportunity to get better yield and returns,” he said when officiating the PKNS Entrepreneurs Aspiration Ceremony 2014 at the Bizpoint Building in Section 7.

Also present was the General Manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), Azlan Alifiah, and the General Manager of PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd (PREC), Fakru Radzi Ab Ghani.

Shortly after speaking, Amirudin then officiated the PKNS BizClub before witnessing the signing session of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the Entrepreneur Development Division and PREC, which was represented by both its General Managers.

Under the agreement, PREC will offer business stalls at the complex owned by them at a minimum rate while PKNS will provide entrepreneurs to carry out business at the site.

At the same event, 33 graduates from the Graduate Realising Opportunity and Way Forward (GROW) were also celebrated.

The GROW programme is open to diploma and degree holders under 30 years of age who will be given theory lessons for six months on the aspects of business such as financial management and entrepreneur identity.
