SHAH ALAMA, 17 Dec: The efforts by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in providing a platform and training to young entrepreneurs were clearly worthwhile.

Through the Graduate Realising Opportunity and Way Forward (GROW) programme, Mohd Fakaruddin Yusoff, 27, managed to achieve sales of nearly half a million ringgit in his food business.

He said that GROW provided many opportunities to him to gain business knowledge, especially about the importance of financial management.

“We were given a lot of exposure which is tough to get outside. For example, we were provided a course in financial management which is certainly important in a business.

“Thank God I can now operate my cafe business and I hope to open another branch in the future,” he said during the graduation ceremony of GROW 2014 at the Bizpoint Building this evening.

The event which was officiated by the PKNS General Manager, Azlan Alifiah, witnessed Fakaruddin receiving the outstanding graduate with the highest amount of sales.

He is currently running Fafa Cafe Restaurant & Catering which is located at the Shah Alam UiTM Scholar Square with the help of 10 employees.

The GROW programme is open to diploma and degree holders under the age of 30 to undergo theory training in the aspects of business, including marketing, financial management and entrepreneur identity.

Meanwhile, another GROW graduate, Mohd Badrul Amril Biduzodin, 29, reminded his friends, especially fellow graduates, to pursue and seize opportunities in the field of entrepreneurship.

“Now, there are a lot of opportunities provided such as the PKNS platform. So, do not be shy and bashful to seize it.

“We must be bold, focused and have high confidence as well as competitiveness in whatever field we are in,” said Badrul who is pursuing the engineering field.
